Facilities:
UIC has its premises at 152 Voortrekker Street, Jacobs, Durban. The premises are owned by UIC. Administration, Accounting, Procurement and Engineering are housed at our Head office. On the premises we have a large warehouse facility to accommodate the storage of construction tools, equipment and materials.

The warehouse also serves as a workshop for equipment assembly, staging and testing facility.

Quality:
The company has a comprehensive Quality Management System and this system is implemented across all of our projects.

UIC are currently in the process of preparing for an ISO9001:2008 accreditation.

Safety:
UIC has a well-structured SHEQ Management Plan which is implemented at all our places of operation.

UIC are aligned with NOSA and are subject to their audits processes. UIC are NOSA Level 3 rated.




Key milestones:
1974

UIC was established and operated as Ultimate Instrument Contractors (Pty) Ltd predominantly providing a service of Instrumentation Construction and Maintenance in the Petrochemical Industry.

1982

UIC grew significantly in the construction industry and peaked in its construction services at this time, undertaking major projects. UIC had also moved into the Paper and Mining Industries. UIC registered as an Electrical Contractor and could offer a full E & I Construction Service.

1985

UIC expanded their services to include field engineering and its first two AutoCAD stations were purchased, offering a complete professional engineering service.

1989

UIC had grown in its engineering division and were able to offer a complete Turnkey solution of Control, Instrumentation, and Electrical Projects. UIC's major focus over this period was re-instrumentation projects undertaken on a turnkey basis. UIC quickly gained recognition for its ability to undertake major Control, Instrumentation and Electrical Projects and entered the arena of providing EPCM Projects where the major emphasis was in these disciplines.

1998

UIC underwent a management change. The company changed its name to UIC Control & Automation (Pty) Ltd. to more accurately reflect the services of Instrumentation and Electrical Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Project Control.

2004

UIC purchased Smart Plant Instrumentation Suite.

2007

UIC became one of the first companies in South Africa to be Profibus Accredited Installers and Engineers.

2011

UIC become NOSA accredited achieving a 3 Star rating.

2013

UIC underwent a further management change with the key focus on core services which are Engineering and Construction of Instrumentation and Electrical Plant Control Systems. UIC continues to be a leader in their field and have a proven track record in industry.

    Operating Structures


    UIC Control and Automation (Pty) Ltd: UIC Control and Automation (Pty) Ltd is an Instrumentation Project Engineering and Construction company, specialising in project management, procurement, design, engineering, construction and commissioning of Instrumentation Projects. UIC has a local resource base of specialist Instrument Project Managers, Engineers, Designers, Commissioning Technicians and Artisans with the logistical and administrative backup to support these personnel anywhere in Southern Africa.

    UIC Instrumentation (Pty) Ltd: UIC Instrumentation (Pty) Ltd is an instrumentation sales company and is the local agent for Detcon, McCrometer and F.I.T.
